Every Story is worthy of being kept, and

The Story Keeper

Every Story, every photograph, every handwritten recipe is worthy of being kept and cherished. Some are found on forgotten shelves at antique stores. Others are found on dusty kitchen counters at estate sales. Still others are from my childhood, passed down by those who came before me.

They are all Stories on the brink of being lost to time, lost in the analog age if they aren’t transcribed for the digital landscape.

I’ve collected all these Stories for you, and I will collect many more.

I am The Story Keeper. View the collection below.

  • Memories Kept

Every memory told by those who came before us is worth preserving. Some memories teach us lessons. Others bring us joy or sorrow or something akin to nostalgia for a time in which we didn’t live. I keep them here so you might read a Story that helps you if you need it, distracts you if you need it, heals you if you need it.

  • Photographs Kept

Photographs are a static glimpse into a single moment in history. A passing glance at the lives of our ancestors. They tell the Stories that were deemed worthy of capturing on film, and if we’re lucky, the backs are notated with names and dates. Pictures are worth a thousand words, but only if we keep them.

  • Recipes Kept

Yellowed recipe cards with stains and creases and notes written in cursive contain the most delectable memories we have as a collective species: what food sustained us. If you want a taste of the dishes that made yesteryear delicious, I’ve kept them here. If you’ve lost a family recipe, perhaps you’ll find something similar.

Why do I keep Stories?

Many reasons. I want to preserve the things that capture who we were, what we looked like, and the recipes we passed down from generation to generation. These things are worthy of preserving, they are worthy of continued life and use. We all have a Story to tell, a unique life that deserves celebration and archival.

But the more important reason: potato soup.

What’s to come?

I have big dreams for this project. Check back soon for more Stories.
